Since we have been at home so much and eating all of our meals here, I decided it would be really nice if we had an actual area designated to, well… eat! Our apartment has an open layout so the kitchen is open to the living room and everything is just one big space. We have a high table with bar stools but never use it to eat and it has ended up just a catch-all table over the years. I wanted to make a change and refresh the space because every meal was getting consumed in front of our tv on the couch – which normally wasn’t a big deal because we would only eat at home a few days out of the week but now… it’s not flying with me! So I hopped on Amazon and got to shopping for the perfect small space dining arrangement to tie our apartment together and create an enjoyable eating space.
This was the hardest for me to find in an affordable form. I really wanted a white top table with a golden metal base, but all of the golden ones were ridiculously expensive. That’s when I felt the crafty DIY itch and decided to order an all-white option, which is much more affordable I might add – and paint the base myself. This was super easy to do as the table arrived in a box deconstructed so I was able to paint the base and stand before putting the table together. Honestly, I was very impressed with the finished result. It looks so updated and much more high-end than the plain white version and was only 6$ to paint and update!
Since we have dark wood floors I wanted to get a fluffy white rug to go under the table and chairs to add texture and warmth to the space. I found a washable rug – ideal for eating or high traffic areas – at a super affordable price. I recommend Marshalls or Homegoods for one of these.
So the chairs were my absolute favorite and inspiration for the entire setup. I also will note they were the most expensive part. I found these emerald green upholstered chairs with gold legs in a 2 pack from Amazon and was very pleased with the price for the quality of the product. The chairs are absolutely lovely and I know I will have them for years.
Adding greenery to your living space really personalizes it and adds life. I loved this black and white printed pot and the dark green leaves complimented the chairs so well I thought it would make the perfect centerpiece.
Now for the fun decorative accent, I chose a bold print throw pillow to tie everything together and add more texture and a touch of character to the area. Amazon has a plethora of pillow cover prints and patterns for pretty much any theme or space. Not to mention they are also incredibly affordable and washable.
And that’s everything to complete this eating space update for small living spaces or open layout kitchen/living rooms. I adore this space and we find ourselves sitting at the table quite often to look out the window and people watch and just enjoy each other’s company at this chic and comfortable corner of the apartment. If you are looking to update, or create a kitchen dining space check out Amazon for some amazing options, and if you like or are inspired by the pieces I have selected, everything is linked. Happy Decorating!
