How to Style Chambray, Summer to Fall

If there is one piece of clothing everyone needs in their wardrobe, it is a chambray top. This is honestly one of the most versatile and transitional pieces around! From shorts in the summer to layered under sweaters in the winter, this piece will carry you through the seasons. And, another thing that makes this top a must, is no matter your style, you can work chambray into your wardrobe.

To show you just how versatile it can be, I have teamed up with Kristine from Kristines Kalidoscope, and Lan from Thelanline to give you three different style options that you can wear now!

Each of us will be sharing their outfit breakdown on their blog, so check it out! Here I will be sharing my look, enjoy!

So I decided to go with a printed pant and a fall transition palette. The tonal green of the camo print (similar) really makes the blue of the chambray pop! I wanted a more oversized fit so I purchased this top in a medium. The relaxed fit gives this a more casual feel, perfect for pairing with printed jeans and sneakers.

Speaking of sneakers, I chose faux suede mesh inspired sneakers from MIA and a cognac messenger bag to complete the look. The warm tones blend well together and give this look a finished touch. Once the weather cools I would layer a tan sweater over the chambray and add gold tone accessories to transform the look.

For some shoe inspo, here is a closeup of our selections. As you can see the color options are limitless with chambray, as well as the level of dressiness you want to take it!

So here’s to having fun the last few days of summer, and enjoy creating unique ensembles with chambray!

Fun with Ruffles and Stripes

Do you ever have those days where you want to refresh your wardrobe? Put a fresh twist on some of your favorite pieces? Well this was one of those kind of days for me. I purchased this beautiful striped dress envisioning it for the beach, or casual weekend wear, but I really wanted to figure out a way to get additional use out of it. In comes one of my favorite vests! This beautiful business vest (similar) is a soft white, comes fully lined, and offers a slight collar. I slipped this over the dress, and voila! This chic ensemble emerged!

When I purchased these pieces I never envisioned pairing them in such a way, but that’s the fun this about clothing, with styles and tastes always changing, the possibilities are endless! It’s great to browse through your closet every once and a while, and see what new creation you can come up with, and what pieces you may have forgotten about. They just might become a front runner in your go-to rotation.

Feeling Golden

When it comes to seasonal pieces, I really like to get my use out of them, and what better way to do that than by restyling! Here I will wear a dress two ways, taking it from day to night!

I picked up this 70’s inspired chiffon swiss-dot dress from Stage Stores. I absolutely love the fit and silhouette of this dress, not to mention the color! For my first look, I chose to pair this dress with a cheetah print belt, camel color boots and a small crossbody. This look is perfect for work, church, or shopping with the girls! This lightweight material flows beautifully, and is just the right amount of coverage for this season!

Now to transition this dress to night, I give the look a bit more edge, by pairing it with quilted ankle booties and a scuba skirt. The scuba skirt adds a fun and flirty touch along with the high heel of the bootie! I love how the black against the golden mustard hue really pops! This is the perfect date night ensemble, transforming this sunny daytime dress into the perfect night out look!

This really is a great way to add options to your wardrobe without collecting multiple pieces. Right now I am obsessed with this mustard shade, and since this dress offers such a flattering fit, what better way to get my use out of it this fall than by restyling it different ways?! I have noticed that each season I get really hung up on a few particular shades and buy a lot of pieces in it, only to decide on a new color the next season. Because of this, I have learned to pick and choose the pieces I really like, and get creative with styling those select pieces so that I don’t over do it on a seasonal color that will be short lived.

For accessories I kept the same jewelry to tie the looks together. A simple mixed media watch with some of my favorite Luca-Love bracelets. The gold tones complement the look impeccably!

As seen with this dress, you can easily style up one particular seasonal piece you love in your wardrobe, and give it a fresh look! I hope this short blog has inspired you to take a peek into your own closet and test out your wheel of options when it comes to restyling!
